Rooted Fare DIY Kit

DIY Black Sesame Tang Yuan Kit

Just in time for celebrating the Lantern Festival to conclude Lunar New Year, this limited-edition kit helps you make from scratch and eat Tang Yuan (汤圆) or glutinous rice balls with black sesame filling, an essential and iconic dessert that symbolizes togetherness. It's 100% vegan (and 100% delicious and fun) and makes 18-24 medium-large sized Tang Yuans, which is enough to fill 8 people's tummies! The kit includes everything you need (no shopping needed), including a video tutorial. Make memories with friends, family, or even by yourself this Lunar New Year!

Mercado Stand Various Earring Styles

Lucky Lantern Earrings

We've made a small batch of red lantern earrings in time for new year's. The red lantern has had a long history from being used in religious festivals, decorations, and holidays eventually becoming a symbol of prosperity and good fortune.

Kiss Kiss Panchang Knot Earrings

With its intricate loops and paths, the panchang knot in Chinese knotting has come to represent longevity through Buddhist beliefs in endless lives. With such a fun pink color, we closed off the ties with a button knot and adorned with textured pink globe beads and leaf accents to welcome springtime.

Unrefreshed Mahjong Tile Earrings

With a game as old as the Qing Dynasty, we didn't mess with any of the traditional tile designs of mahjong. We did however, turn them into dangly earrings. These are lightweight enough to gift to your auntie as she plays with her WeChat pals or to casually wear as you fold your new year's jiaozi.

Some Daze Chili Crisp

Tiger Chilli Crisp

Our Tiger Chilli Crisp is a sweet and spicy version of the famous chili crisp.

Crunchy and fiery with a well rounded flavor, the addition of Guajillo Chilis gives it an explosion of smoky and fruity tangy.

It is currently up for pre-sale through our DMs and will be up on our site Friday, February 11.

BCHI LA Print + Earrings

MSG Print

"MSG Girl" was a commission piece by Andrew Chen, a friend of mine! He wanted to revise the Morton Salt Girl into a MSG girl! Frankly, it was such a good idea and easy to just FLY with the rest of the art! I love how playful she is, and I LOVE MSG. Did you know it's on Doritos? The heavy racist mythology towards Chinese Food behind MSG is crazy, so ya'll, MSG needs rebranding and I think MSG Girl is here for it! "It tastes better with MSG!”

You can also get it as a shirt at brendachi.threadless.com

I will also fun a fundraiser with MSG Girl to help fund my Residency at Leiminspace! My residency is about the documentation of LA Chinatown and it’s fully funded by me.

LNY Earrings

I have wanted to make some Red Envelope earrings and I have finally! done it! Being the Chinese person that I am, I'm all for wishing to get rich, doing the lucky things, wearing the lucky colors, to inspire more wealth and luck for me. So, that's what these Get Rich earrings are for! I'm Chinese American and I'm gonna be bold AF, so I feel like these Get Rich earrings marry the wonderful festivities of Lunar New Year and the loudness of being an American.

Good Luck Earrings

A classic Chinese knot, a trinket meant to symbolize good luck, now as earrings for adornment! It’s fabulous, sassy, and anyone can wear it (hence why it’s also American, as I am American). These knots were decorated in my home, and they look so beautiful, I wanted to wear them! It’s my way of celebrating my Chinese heritage and a play of giving myself good luck! SO LET'S GET SOME GOOD LUCK!
